As Within, So Without

As above, so below.

As within, so without: If humans clear inner pollution, then they will also cease to create outer pollution.” — Eckhart Tolle

Our outside world is a reflection of our inner world. We manifest our reality.

Whether you believe in this or not, think about this for a second.

When we’re happy, we’re contagious. We smile at strangers; we accept mistakes; we ignore traffic. People smile back. We arrive on time with time to spare.

But start your day off with negative emotions, and the world responds the same way.

How do you behave when you’re angry, frustrated, scared, stressed? Do you smile at strangers? Do you tolerate mistakes? Do you ignore traffic?

I know when I allow myself to be angry, I’m on edge, waiting to blow up in someone’s face.

One wrong order at Starbucks, and you’re losing it! You argue with the barista. You become angrier, more frustrated. And you go on to live another stressful, unhappy day.

There’s no magic in this. It’s physics. For every action, there’s an opposite reaction.

You will find this law to be true, whatever the situation is. If you’re an ass spreading hatred, you will be treated like an ass. And if you’re nice, the world will be nice.

It’s reciprocity, and it applies to life.

So before you complain, take a moment to reflect on the state you’re in. Sometimes it’s best to ignore the negative and focus on the positive.

Focus on the now because when the future comes, it will still be now. A series of unhappy moments will not amount to happy moments.

You have the power to transform your future, but it starts within. It starts now.
