“I am absolutely serious” — Elon Musk.
World-famous billionaire and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, has issued an absurd challenge to Russian President Vladimir Putin over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Musk tweeted: “I hereby challenge Vladimir Putin to single combat. Stakes are Ukraine” — with Putin’s name written in Russian and Ukraine in Ukrainian.
Musk followed with another tweet tagging the Kremlin and asked: “Do you agree to this fight?”
Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of Russia’s space program Roscosmos, replied to Musk in Russian with a verse from Alexander Pushkin.
“You, little devil, are still young, you are weak to compete with me; it would only be a waste of time. Overtake my brother first.” — replied Rogozin
Musk was asked if he thought this through, and he answered, “I am absolutely serious.”
And when asked if he would be surprised if Putin accepted, he replied, “It would be an honor.”
Musk’s challenge to Putin isn’t his first tweet on the war in Ukraine. He has spoken out against the war and supported Ukraine with access to SpaceX’s satellite-internet system Starlink — a system of over functional 2,000 satellites designed to bring web access to almost everyone on the planet.
